Community gardens:Community Garden Agreement
From Miller Farm
Community Garden 2006 Responsibilities
As most of you already know the smooth functioning of the community gardens requires a concerted effort by both students and community members. In an effort to make sure everything gets done both the residents of Miller Farm and the Community Gardeners need to keep their responsibilities in mind. Please communicate any needs or concerns to your Community Gardener communicator, or to the summer Community Garden contact person living at Miller Farm for the summer.(These two point people positions are negotiable of course, we will talk about it all together.)
Provisions of Miller Farm Garden Space:
- Fall and spring tillage when deemed necessary
- Planting of fall cover crop annually
- Supply of materials for maintenance (fencing materials, new hoses)
- Sharing of Miller Farm garden tools
Expectations of Community Garden Members:
- Decide where each gardeners plot will be, taking into consideration peoples’ needs and wants.
- Continued communication with neighboring plot members.
- The selection of one person to be the main communicator with the Community Garden person of Miller Farm about concerns, needs, etc…
- Purchasing of seeds.
- No usage of added chemical fertilizers or pest control other than fences. If you have questions or would like to use a product, please consult Miller Farm first.
- Responsible for having the hose put away when the grounds crew comes to mow (Mondays 8am is when they mow until further notice)
Changes to the garden space can be made and are encouraged. Miller Farm is fine with the garden being expanded, but community gardeners would need to do the bulk of the work.
Also note that www.millerfarm.org has a community garden section to keep you updated.
