- do your share of the chores

Chores
[edit]
Cats
- The cats need fresh water and food twice a day: once in the morning, and once in the semi-early afternoon (if you wait till dusk, racoons and skunks will eat the food).
[edit]
Chickens
- The chickens need to be let out in the early morning; as soon as it's light is best. There is a small string to wrap around the main door to prevent the wind from blowing it shut.
- If laying mash is available, the chickens can be fed (otherwise, compost in the yard should be sufficient food) in the available feeder.
- Give the chickens fresh water twice a day (this is a must if healthy chickens are to be maintained).
- The chickens need to be put in well before dark. Racoons have been sighted around the chicken yard early in the afternoon--beware of them and make sure the chicken yard is as racoon-proof as it can be. Be sure to lock the small door from the inside of the coop, as racoons have been known to unlatch outside locks.
- Collect the eggs
[edit]
Cold frames
- If the cold frames are in use and it's warm enough, they should be opened during the day. If there's a danger of frost, they need to be closed at night.
[edit]
Gardens
- The in-use sections of the garden should be watered twice a day, to maintain an "evenly moist seed bed."
[edit]
Greenhouse
- If there are starts in the greenhouse, they need to be watered twice a day (especially when it's warm out).
- The seed beds can probably survive on one watering per day.
- In the morning, start trays should be placed outside in the sun so they can build up some resistance to wind.
- If it might get cold at night, the start trays should also be brought back inside at night.
